Bears Go Offense, Colts Defense in NFL Draft

The NFL Draft kicked off last night with round 1. The Bears held picks 1 and 9, the Colts 15. There was plenty of talks about the Bears getting out of their 9th pick, and rumors that the Colts were looking to move up to take Marvin Harrison Jr. But both teams held their picks. For the Bears, they addressed 2 areas of need in QB and WR. No one was shocked when Caleb Williams was the 1st pick. That’s been a well known rumor for weeks. But what would they do at 9? Rome Odunze, reciever from Washington. The fact that so many QBs were taken early meant the Bears were able to get the 8th best overall player in the draft. Tremendous night for them.

Now there seems to be some debate on what the Colts did. 14 straight offensive players kicked off the draft. So Indy had their choice of defensive stars.

So the good first. He’s an insanely talented pass rusher. That can’t be denied. People in the know will also tell you this is great value here, because without the injury concern he’s a top 10 pick for sure. However, 2 seasons ago they told him to retire due to a neck injury. He transferred to UCLA, played, and now he’s here. If you are a Colts fan, you’re happy with such a talented and athletic edge rusher. But you’ve had a history with great players having neck injuries, so I think you might be a little uneasy.

Rounds 2-3 are tonight starting at 7pm. Bears currently do not have a second round pick. Their next pick is the 11th pick in round 3. The Colts will pick 14th in round 2 and 18th in round 3.
