Owen Wilson reportedly turned down some big money to star in a film about O.J. Simpson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Juice is currently in production and stars Charlotte Kirk as Nicole Brown Simpson and Boris Kodjoe as O.J.  The film, directed by Joshua Newton, is a “satirical thriller” that depicts the late NFL star as innocent in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Newton shares the film’s main plotline involves attorney Douglas McCann.  When trying to find the right actor for the role, he says, “Owen Wilson was perfect for the role.”  However, Wilson was not onboard after the two met.  “I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million. But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how O.J. didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me,'” the director says.

Newton has found another actor to take on the role.  The Juice, which has been in development since 2015, is currently looking at a October 3, 2025 release date, which will be the 30th anniversary of O.J.’s not-guilty verdict.
