There are reports coming from West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School of students being evacuated after a threat caused the school to close today (Mar. 26).

WTHR’s Dustin Grove shared on X (formerly Twitter), “West Lafayette Jr/Sr High School closed today after a threat forced the evacuation of the bldg. District working on a reunification plan for evacuated students. Will send parents an email.”

WLFI reports evacuated students were moved to Mackey Arena.  West Lafayette Elementary School has been canceled for today, and West Lafayette Middle school was on lockdown.

West Lafayette Police Chief Troy Harris tells the Journal & Courier the school received a threat early Tuesday morning, prompting the evacuation.  However, nothing was found credible to the treat. “It’s looking like a hoax at this point,”  Harris said.

West Lafayette Community School Corporation released a statement on their Facebook page.  “This morning WLJSHS received word of a threat. Law enforcement was immediately contacted and is on site. The decision to evacuate students from the building was made following our protocol working with local law enforcement,” the statement says.  “An update will follow concerning a reunification plan for evacuated students at WLJSHS.”  The statement adds, “There are no injured students or staff.”  The schools will communicate with families using Skyward’s call system and email.

Story is still developing.
