Nick Carter is countersuing the woman accusing him of sexually assulting her in 2001.
TMZ reports the Backstreet Boys member filed his countersuit on Thursday (Feb. 2) against Shannon Ruth. Carter says Ruth’s accusations are false and claims she’s been coached by a father and daughter, Jerome and Melissa Schuman, to make these alleged lies in an attempt of extortion. Nick is seeking more than $2.35 million in costs for the band including canceled appearances and endorsement deals.
Ruth sued Carter in December 2022 claiming he sexually assaulted her after a concert in 2001 when she was underage.
