Gucci is facing backlash from their November ad campaign featuring Harry Styles.
Yahoo! reports the singer is shown posing in a teddy bear t-shirt next to a toddler-sized mattres. The campaign is promoting the fashion brand’s HA HA HA collection.
Alexandra Gucci Zarini, the great-granddaughter of the founder of Gucci, was among those who spoke out against the ad campaign in the wake of the Balenciaga scandal. She wrote on Instagram, “Why would you create a ‘performance piece’ with a toddler’s mattress and an adult man?” Zarini added, “My concerns are that there seems to be a common ideology across Kering’s Fashion Houses.” Kering is the parent company for Gucci and Balenciaga.

Others commented on Zarini’s post. One user wrote, “Is this an ad for kids mattresses? If not… why is a kids mattress included with a man in a fashion ad… what are you trying to normalize.” Another said, “Unless he is about to announce his expecting a baby, nothing else can justify the Mattress. I don’t want to hear it !!!!!!”
Former creative director Alessandro Michele said in regards to the collection, “Starting from those small oddities that come together in childlike visions, it turns into a ‘dream wardrobe’ reflecting the two creative spirits behind the collection.”
