Bruce Willis made the decision to retire due to a medical condition known as aphasia, but thanks to technology he can still appear in film.
Willis sold his image and likeness from the films Die Hard and The Fifth Element to a company called, Deepcake. The company creates artificial intelligence powered content and were able to create a digital twin of the actor.
The actor is quoted on the company’s website as saying, “With the advent of the modern technology, I could communicate, work and participate in filming, even being on another continent. It’s a brand new and interesting experience for me, and I am grateful to our team.”
Deepfake Willis has already appeared in a commercial for a Russian telecommunications company called MegaFon.
*UPDATE 10/03/2022 – Bruce Willlis denies selling the rights to his image and a representative for the Deepcake has said, “The wording about rights is wrong… Bruce couldn’t sell anyone any rights, they are his by default.”
