Mariah Carey performed “Close My Eyes” on Good Morning America Wednesday as part of the morning show’s Summer Concert Series.
Carey delivered a virtual performance from her home and was joined by a piano player. “Close My Eyes” appeared on the singer’s 1997 album Butterfly.
The 50-year-old also announced a new album, titled The Rarities, that will be released on October 2nd and feature tracks that have never been released. The 15-track album will feature the previously-unreleased “Save The Day” with Lauryn Hill. A bonus set will contain 17 recordings cut live at the Tokyo Dome in the 1990s, including “Emotions,” “Open Arms,” “Forever,” and “Fantasy.”
Carey is also set to release a memoir titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey on September 29th to coincide with the new album.
GMA’s Summer Concert Series will continue with performances from Megan Thee Stallion on August 21st and Bebe Rexha on August 28th.
