Study finds cheesy ’80s pop hits are great for stress relief

Stressed out? Listen to some cheesy ’80s music. That’s according a study of over 1,500 adults.

Those surveyed were about to undergo surgery and asked to listen to a playlist of several popular genres of music. Everything from ‘Golden Oldies’ of the ’60s to ’90s R&B and even dubstep were on the list.

96% of the group reported to the most ‘pacifying effect’ and 36% felt their heart rate drop listening to ’80s music. The study showed that Top 40 tunes from that era even prompted feelings of nostalgia, positivity.

Highlights from the list of ’80s song were Blondie ‘Call Me,’ Wham! ‘Freedom,’ and Bette Midler ‘Wind Beneath My Wings.’
