It wasn’t the best round, but Purdue is in the clubhouse at +21 on day 1 of the NCAA Finals. Led by Herman Sekne’s +1, Purdue struggled to find birdies in round 1, with just 5. 2 of those were Sekne’s. Kent Hsaio had a clean back 9 with 8 straight pars and wrapping with a birdie on 18. He finished +2.
Nels Surtani and Sam Easterbrook struggled though, with 3 double bogies each. Peyton Snoberger starting the back 9 with a birdie but then bogeyed 5 straight capping 17 with a double himself.
The good news is, the field as a whole struggled and pars were the new birdies. A tough course has taken it’s toll. Purdue will look for better golf tomorrow morning.
