The Chicago White Sox lost on an interference call with the go-ahead run at the plate last night. You can watch the play here. The 2nd base ump called Andrew Vaughn out on a high in-field fly when he trotted back to second base causing the short stop to have to go around him. It’s a horrible way to end a game in any instance. But wins have been hard to come by on the southside, and this one just didn’t sit right.

The Sox were down 8-2 heading into the 9th, but were able to score 4. The rally cut short by the officials gave the Sox their 6th loss in their last 7 games. Mike Clevneger gets the loss. He gave up 2 homers and 5 earned runs over 4.2 innings. Tommy Pham was 3-4 on the night in the lead off spot. But no home runs again for the Sox who remain in last place in home runs hit. They’re also dead last in RBIs by an astonishing 37 less then the Nationals who are second worst…and the Sox have played 3 more games!

White Sox are back at home tonight (weather permitting) taking on Baltimore for game 2. Chris Flexen takes on Corbin Burns. Sox are heavy underdogs again.
