It hasn’t happened since 2001, but the Boys Swim Sectional title is back at Harrison. Led by Matthew Klinge, the Raiders won 2 of the 3 relays, with Klinge taking the 50 Free and 100 Fly titles. The Raiders were able to field 3 swimmers in the A-Finals in every event except the 50 and 100 free. In both those events, the third Raider took home the top spot in the B-Finals.
It was nothing new for Klinge who took down the 100 fly Sectional record. Other local swimmers winning included Central Catholic’s Anthony Korchnak winning the 500 yard freestyle, West Lafayette’s Lucas Arnaldo took the 200 IM and 100 Breast Stroke titles. Local divers took the top 6 spots, but only the top 4 advance. That would include Jeff’s Joshua Thomas, West Lafayette’s
Brendan Twomey, Harrison’s Isaac Soldati and McCutcheon’s Luke Johns. They’ll all compete in Regionals at Homestead tomorrow.
As for state titles, Klinge is poised to take home 2 individually. He has a massive 0.53 lead on the second place seed time. And in the fly a .70 advantage over the second seed. Harrison’s 200 Medley relay is seeded 5th while the 2oo free relay is 2nd, just 0.05 seconds behind Carmel. Anthony Korchnak is the 28th seed in the 500, Elijah Blume 22nd in the 200 free, Lucas Arnaldo 14th in the 200 IM. They’ll all swim Friday night with the top 16 times advancing to Saturday’s finals.
