Last night, McCutcheon and Harrison accepted an invitation to join the Sagamore conference starting in 2025. Both schools were left without a conference after being voted out of the North Central Conference last year. A decision that became even more controversial when a month later, Logansport left, after voting to expel both schools, for the Hoosier Conference. In the aftermath, there’s been plenty of speculation about where the local schools could end up, or even form an entirely new conference all together. Now we have our answer.
The Sagamore features Crawfordsville, Tri-West, Frankfort, Lebanon, North Mont, South Mont, Danville, and Western Boone. That will certainly beat the drives out to Richmond. The Raiders and Mavs will now become the 2 biggest schools in the conference.
Harrison & McCutcheon High Schools are excited to accept an invitation to join the Sagamore Athletic Conference. Our conference membership will begin at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year with the first competitive season beginning in the Fall of 2025.

The football teams will still play an NCC schedule this season, but will not be eligible for the conference title.
*UPDATE*
I didn’t want to add to any confusion. The Sagamore conference will lose Crawfordsville, Frankfort, North Montgomery, Southmont and Western Boone. They are forming their own conference which to my knowledge still doesn’t have a name. But that won’t be til 25-26 season. That will leave 5 teams in the conference, counting Harrison and McCutcheon. Previous the article had said the Sagamore would have 10, but that would be incorrect. As far as I’m aware, both Harrison and McCutcheon still have NCC football schedules this season. Basketball will be a different story. Harrison will now be the biggest school with over 2,000 students, Tri-west the smallest with just over 600.
