Rare air these days to see a coach stay in one place for so long. Purdue’s press release has a great write up on just how successful he’s been.
“The program has flourished under Shondell’s guidance, producing 20 All-Americans which have racked up 38 All-America honors over their careers, 81 All-Big Ten selections, four NCAA Regional appearances in the last five years and a consistent place among the top-25, including its highest-ever national ranking at No. 4 in 2021. The program’s momentum has skyrocketed under Shondell’s guidance, seeing 12 wins against top-5 opponents since 2011 and the longest active streak among any Purdue team at 107 straight weeks in the poll. Meanwhile, Purdue’s No. 13 final ranking in December marked the seventh straight year Purdue was considered one of the nation’s top-20 teams when all was said and done. Moreover, he has kept the Boilermakers among the nation’s elite, owning a 110-42 record over the last five years alone (.724 win %). The Boilermaker community has embraced the program, with 94% of all sold-out matches coming since Shondell took the reins in 2003. Moreover, a historic 2023 season saw the first complete season sellout in Purdue volleyball history.”
Oh and let’s not forget he’s the ultimate hype man for Purdue and it’s athletes. Congrats Coach! 4 more years to work on the gritty.
