The long awaited Barbie movie is in theaters today starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken. The movie also includes Kate McKinnon who has the role of ‘Weird’ Barbie.
McKinnon explained her character in an interview with People by saying, “It’s based on the Barbie that I think we all had where you’d cut the hair off and burn the clothes and draw on it,”.
According to research by the University of Bath, kids 7 and older tend to have at least one Barbie doll that they have mangled. Kids described chewing the dolls feet, cutting the hair off and even microwaving their Barbie.
