NFL Free Agency started yesterday, and while the Bears were making a lot of splashy deals, the Colts were pretty quiet. But they have addressed an area of need, and that’s kicker. He converted 60 of 64 field goal attempts with the Rams the past two seasons (93.8%), making him one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL. It’s a 4 year 22.5 million dollar deal which would be the largest for a free agent kicker in NFL history. Free agent kicker is the key term here, his 5.6 million per year is still second to the 6 million a year Raven’s kicker Justin Tucker gets, but he’s been a Raven for life, and didn’t test free agency at all. Signing a kicker is never the sexiest thing as a fan, but this was a major area of need.
