CJ Harris appeared as a contestant on Season 13 of American Idol and called Darius Rucker one of his musical heroes after performing Rucker’s song “Alright” on the show.
According to TMZ, a family member of Harris said that CJ appeared to have suffered a heart attack on Sunday at his home in Alabama. He passed away Sunday night after arriving at the hospital by ambulance. CJ was 31.
Darius Rucker posted condolences upon hearing the news on Monday afternoon.
