National Treasure star Justin Bartha discusses just how close a third film is to becoming a reality.

E! News reports Bartha reprised his role of Riley Poole for the Disney+ spinoff series National Treasure: Edge of History.  Poole gave viewers an update as to what he and Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) have been up to since the last film.  He referenced the Book of Secrets as an Easter egg, which potentially hints at a third movie.  Riley says, “Ben and I have been working on this super important thing for the last three, four, 15 years.”

Justin tells Variety in reference to that scene, “Nic [Cage] is obviously doing great, one of the greatest ever. [Producer] Jerry [Bruckheimer] just had a big hit with Top Gun: Maverick, and he is doing great. The constant drum beat from the fans for a third movie just makes it a no-brainer for me.”

As for where they are for the third National Treasure film, Bartha says, “There is a script. That’s all I’ll say.  There have been a few different scripts, actually, but the one thing that has to happen is for all the stars to align.”
