A blockbuster trade between the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Lakers almost happened. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that,

“Vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka, owner Jeanie Buss and senior basketball adviser Kurt Rambis seriously considered sending Westbrook and unprotected first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 to the Pacers for center Myles Turner and guard Buddy Hield, sources said.”

The reports about the two teams making a trade have not been breaking news, especially with Los Angeles not willing to offer 1st round picks along with Russell Westbrook.

Myles Turner enters his last season under contract with the Pacers. His future wit the team seems uncertain after the season, but the Pacers have made it clear they know exactly what they want in return for the big man. Draft capital.

Personally, I think the trade could still happen as both teams have been talking since the NBA Summer League back in July. Definitely something to keep an eye on as the season moves closer. Pacers start the season on October 19th at home against the Washington Wizards.
