There he is. The hero to Season 1 of Sanditon, Theo James. One half of the love story on my favorite comfort show of 2020 …and you all KNOW how much we needed comfort in 2020. The beach resort setting in the 1800s, the promise of a typical Jane Austen “happily-ever-after”, and a great cast and storyline drew me to the show. But most of all, the love story between Charlotte (Rose Williams) and Sidney (Theo J.). They were meant to be until that terrible cliff hanger.
The show was canceled until us ladies of the Sanditon Sisterhood started our online campaign and it WORKED. They renewed for not just one more season, but two! Crazy, right? I mean it’s just a show. But it was so great to find a huge group of women all over the world who felt the same way I did about the ending to Season One. Even the writers, producers and cast have given us credit for getting the show renewed. Finally we will get our HEA. It just won’t look like we hoped. Theo James does not want to return. No man has ever disappointed that many women in one single instant before, but the writers of the show have promised to take the story in a new direction to make up for the loss of Theo. I’m glad for the cast and crew. I mean we aren’t getting exactly what we wanted for the love story, but we saved some jobs. I’ll be watching to see what’s next for Charlotte when Sanditon returns.
Sanditon Season Two is being filmed this Summer and will be on PBS Masterpiece Theater by the end of 2021 or early 2022 and then to Amazon Prime.
