Neil Patrick Harris and Steve Zahn are set to star in new holiday film for HBO Max, which is being produced by New Line Cinema. Directed by Michael Dowse, production for 8-BIT CHRISTMAS is currently underway. Winslow Fegley (Come Play) and June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) are also featured in the cast.
According to a release by HBO Max and New Line Cinema:
8-BIT CHRISTMAS is a humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, the story centers on ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s (Fegley) herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas.
Harris plays Adult Jake Doyle (and also narrates) while Raphael and Zahn play Young Jake’s parents, Kathy and John.
While no release date was announced we can assume the team is looking for a release later this year.
