Snoop Dogg has a lot to say about Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's “WAP.” During an interview via Central Ave, when asked about the song, he said, “Oh my God. Slow down. Like, slow down. And let’s have some imagination. Let’s have some, you know, privacy, some intimacy where he wants to find out as opposed to you telling him.”
He continued, “To me it’s like, it’s too fashionable when that in secrecy, that should be a woman’s…that’s like your pride and possession. That’s your jewel of the Nile. That’s what you should hold onto. That should be a possession that no one gets to know about until they know about it.”
Snoop said that the song may appeal to his 21-year-old daughter but not him. He said, “My daughter is from a different era, though. She’s from this era. She may be doing the ‘WAP’ or apart of the ‘WAP’ and I can’t be mad at her ’cause it’s her generation, you know what I’m saying. But, at the same time, the things that I would rather see, you know, ’cause I’ma older man.”
He continued, “Now, when I was young, 21, 22, I may have been with the movement. I probably would have been on the remix. But as an older man, I love it that they’re expressing themselves and they’re doing their thing, I just don’t want it that fashionable to where young girls feel like they can express themselves like that without even knowing that that is a jewel that they hold onto until the right person comes around.”
Of course, Snoop received backlash from social media from people who pointed out his history of raunchy and misogynistic songs like “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None)” and “B*tches Ain’t Sh*t.”
OFFSET RESPONDS
Offset responded to Snoop's comments. He told TMZ, “I love Snoop man, but she grown. I don’t get in female business. I hate when men do that. I don’t do that.”
He continued, “It’s entertainment, you know what I’m saying? That’s a number one record. Anybody can say what they wanna say, that’s six-time platinum in three or four months…it wasn’t that bad cause it went No. 1.”
Snoop later clarified his statements, saying, “Stop wit the bulls**t press. I love Cardi B and Meg music, period, point blank and they know that I'm in full support of the female MC movement so stop trying to make me a hater. That song 6x platinum. Talk about that.”
